He had searched for her until his enemies convinced him she and the baby were gone. Dead. Buried. Gone for good.<\/p>\n<p>But Rosa had survived.<\/p>\n<p>And now her daughter was standing barefoot in a bakery, shaking with fear, while the man at the door kept walking toward them.<\/p>\n<p>The biker rose slowly, placing himself between the girl and the approaching man.<\/p>\n<p>His voice dropped low.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho is he?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The little girl\u2019s fingers tightened in his jacket.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe took Mom,\u201d she whispered. \u201cShe made me run.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The man stopped a few steps away, trying to smile, but there was something rotten in it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCute reunion,\u201d he said. \u201cNow hand her over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The three bikers behind him moved without a word, closing ranks.<\/p>\n<p>The bakery employee backed away behind the counter, frozen.<\/p>\n<p>The bearded biker never took his eyes off the man.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRosa\u2019s alive?\u201d he asked the girl softly.<\/p>\n<p>Her lip trembled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was when I left.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That was the moment his face changed completely. Not just shock. Not just grief.<\/p>\n<p>Fury.<\/p>\n<p>He handed the little photo to one of his men, then crouched for one second and touched the girl\u2019s cheek with a gloved hand so gently it almost hurt to watch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou did good,\u201d he whispered. \u201cYou found me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The girl finally broke and threw her arms around his neck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMom said you would come,\u201d she cried.<\/p>\n<p>He held her for one hard second, then stood again with her behind him, his whole body turning into a wall.<\/p>\n<p>The man at the door glanced at the other bikers and took one slow step back.<\/p>\n<p>Too late.<\/p>\n<p>Because the little girl who walked into the bakery clutching crumpled money had not just found help.<\/p>\n<p>She had found her father.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The biker went completely still.
