They had both been too proud to call. Too angry to forgive. Too young to understand that silence can become a grave before anyone dies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The boy whispered, \u201cHe said he tried to come back. But he thought you hated him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biker\u2019s eyes filled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI never hated him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The boy\u2019s small face broke.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThen please come. He keeps saying your name.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biker stood so fast the grass bent under his boots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He turned to the others.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cStart the bikes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Engines roared alive one by one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But before he moved, he knelt again and placed the handmade motorcycle back into the boy\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re not buying this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The boy\u2019s face fell.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biker gently closed his dirty fingers around it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re bringing it home to your dad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The boy blinked through tears.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019ll help him?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biker\u2019s voice broke.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI should have helped him years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then he lifted the child onto his motorcycle, wrapped the little vest tighter around him, and said, \u201cHold on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And as the bikers rode through the muddy yard, the boy stopped crying for the first time that day\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the stranger his father told him to find had just become Uncle Ray.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The main biker held the tiny motorcycle like it might fall apart in his hands. \u201cBecause what?\u201d he whispered.
